ABOUT THE SOCIETY

Foundation:
Turkish Society of Immunology was founded in 1974 under the auspices of Prof Asuman Müftüoğlu and with the contribution of the faculty members of Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine, Istanbul School of Medicine and Hacettepe University.

Education Activities:
Our Society organized monthly scientific meetings at the Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine during 1990-94 within the framework of its education activities. Since 1996, the Society has been organizing Practical Immunology Courses with 2 year intervals. The Society has also been publishing the "Turkish Journal of Immunology" as its scientific publication since 1995.

Activities of the time are also announced through the “Bulletin of Immunology” with the contribution of post-graduate and PhD students.

Furthermore, since 2000 our Society has been holding Regional Immunology Meetings twice or three times every year in cities not having access to major universities.

International Cooperation:
In 1998, a protocol was signed for scientific cooperation between Istanbul University and SIAF (Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research) upon the initiative of Prof. Dr. Kurt Blaser, Director of the Institute and Prof. Dr. Cezmi Akdiş Director of Immunology.
